EddyPulse
Portable eddy current advanced compact instrument for non-destructive Pulsed Eddy Current inspection.
Portable eddy current advanced compact instrument for non-destructive Pulsed Eddy Current inspection.
Overview
EddyPulse is supplied with Smart sensors that automatically limit drive currents depending on the pulse width and pulse voltage. The instrument works with three kinds of pickups: Coil, Hall effect or GMR. A reference signal – e.g. that from a defect-free location – can be stored, and subsequently used to show amplified difference signal, simplifying signal analysis. Important features from a signal such as time to peak, time to zero cross, time to cross each of the two gates – upwards or downwards – are available for analysis. A cursor reads out amplitude at any time delay location on the X-axis.
Applications
- EddyPulse has a drive coil in the probe which is excited by a pulse instead of sinusoidal voltages as in conventional eddy current instruments.
- A square pulse is rich in harmonics and offers many of the advantages of a multi-frequency instrument at a much lower cost.
- This is most often used to assess corrosion under insulation in a plant.
